Last week, Pilots and Pups did something we never do -we pulled a dog from Front Street. Normally we wait for the traditional rescues to pull the dogs and THEN we get involved to transport.
Bruno did not have time for that. He entered the shelter as a stray in good health two weeks earlier and was declining rapidly from severe pneumonia and lack of nutrition from vomiting and appetite loss. We couldn’t stand by, watch and do nothing any longer.
This sweet, gentle and very mellow German Shepard boy needed immediate help.
Pilots and Pups is not a traditional Rescue. We provide transport services for rescues and shelters, so we are not set up to do this, however we could not let a VERY ADOPTABLE dog like Bruno languish and possibly die in the shelter.
So we did it.
Every now and then you just have to say yes. You have to step up and move outside of your comfort zone to do what’s right, because you know that if you don't do it, no one else will. So you do it now, figure it out later and trust it'll all work out.
Bruno is doing really well at his foster home and he's already learned how to sit, lay and put his paws on your chest for a hug! What a difference a little love makes. He’s grateful to be feeling better and will be ready to go to his new home soon.
A special thank you to Friends of Front Street who provided a grant for Bruno's neuter and initial veterinary care. Now we just need help with continued medications and vet care to get Bruno over the hump and ready for his new life of love.
Thank you for helping us help Bruno,. We need to do better for our shelter dogs to avoid them becoming sick in our care. But we are hopeful things will be changing for the better very soon.
Please know that any remaining funds acquired through his campaign will be earmarked to help other Front Street dogs in Bruno's situation.
